That said, a handful of them might be able to gin up public pressure, even if they can't affect the outcome of any investigatory or deliberative activity. It is past time for somebody in Congress, in addition to Grassley, to question the false narrative that has taken hold and dominated the news cycles for months. So far, Congress has facilitated advancing and legitimizing the false narrative. The way i see it, Congress is as guilty of perpetrating the coup attempt, as Comey is.
“Have you read this letter from a bunch of congressmen to Sessions and Rosenstein? I recommend reading it.”
Thanks for the link. I’ve now read it. Nice words on a piece of paper. There are dozens of YouTube videos with Trey Goudy, Darrel Issa, Jason Chaffitz and others breathing fire and pontificating for the camera. What happened from all of these efforts — nothing. Notice on this letter Issa and Gowdy are both members of the committee but neither signed the letter. I don’t see Paul Ryan’s signature or other members of the GOP leadership. Without the active support of the leadership nothing is going to happen in Congress and the leadership is not interested in investigating the Democrats.
After decades of observing the Republican Party’s behavior I’ve not to pay attention to what any Republican is saying. Words are meaningless, results are what counts. At the end of the day, the Democrats deliver results for their voter base, the GOP delivers for the Democrat voter base, the GOP delivers for its donor base, and the GOP doesn’t deliver for its voter base. In fact, it is clear to me most of the GOP leadership, if not the majority of GOP representatives and senators, despise their voter base.
Until I see substance and actual results, I don’t believe anything any GOP member of Congress says or puts on a piece of paper.
