Congress is not exempt from Obamacare. It was mandated they get their insurance from the exchanges. However the Washington DC exchange has a bunch of different gold plans for them to choose from and they still get on average 72% of their coverage paid for by the taxpayers since Congress was declared a small business. Yes, it was sleight of hand but I get tired of the misinformation that they were exempted. They were not.

While true, whether it’s sleight of hand or not, having access to “gold plans” not available to anyone but them and their staffs, they are not subject to the same rules under Obamacare as the rest of us. Ergo, they’re not exempted, per se, they just have special rules and get gold plans from the same companies that contribute to their campaigns.

It’s kinda like insider trading; the rules that apply to us don’t apply to them.
