At the height of the fervor against the mayor, Allentown City Council unanimously passed a resolution of no-confidence in the mayor in January 2016, calling for him to step aside. But in May, Pawlowski won the Democratic nomination for a fourth term in office by taking a comfortable lead in a crowded field of candidates.

Found it! Party affiliation was mentioned 80% of the way down the page.

You are correct. Democrat was not mentioned until nearly the end. However, with soooooo many pleading guilty in the 4 year investigation, “intuition” kicked in. He’s not even denying it, just saying he doesn’t know what it is all about? Let’s see how his constituents deal with this.
