never been so much uncertainty in the history of the German-American relationship and in the transatlantic relationship as there is at the present moment. Just a bit of hyperbole there. I’ll give him the point that there was no uncertainty once we went to war but there were a few uncertain years leading up to both wars.

It is hilarious to see just how demented European politicians can be. I suppose that 1941-45 felt more like "certainty" when the USA was out to kick Germany's behind.... not to mention 1917-18....
