Yes, its true the United States smashed another fuel production record this year. According to the U.S. Energy Information Agency (EIA), the country produced over one million barrels per day of this liquid fuel in the first six months of 2017. Unfortunately, this isnt something to brag about. It would be wise just to keep this lil record to ourselves, rather than broadcast it loudly across the energy news wires and Mainstream media.
Why do I say that? Because the U.S. produced a record 1.02 million barrels per day of corn-based ethanol, the lowest quality fuel in the world. Corn ethanols EROI Energy Returned On Invested is so low, it barely provides one net barrel of fuel to the market for one barrel worth of energy that it took to produce it. I get into that in a moment, but lets look at U.S. ethanol production since 2010:

Get a diesel car and you won’t be paying into this foolishness.
Let’s make fuel from food. What could possibly go wrong?
The genuinely idiotic thing is that in order to produce enough of a corn yield to make it worthwhile, lots of not very environmentally freindly fertilizers and pesticides are used. Just guess what the feedstock is for the production of those fertilizers and pesticides. Clue: It begins with an “O”.
You can thank your farm state senators.
I had one for 12 years and was happy not to.

Corn also needs a LOT of water. And of course the price of all the other crops that corn is displacing goes up.
please don’t brag on your price of the car....
That is really nice. Always wanted one.
Ethanol production is great.
Once produced sell it to brother Jack and brother Daniels. They will put in charred oak barrels and lovingly guard it for years and occasionally sample it, for quality control purposes only.
I like ethanol. It sure as hell does not belong in my gas tank.
unless you live in Calif, where diesels are frowned upon by the electric battery addicts even more than gasoline-powered vehicles (although the energy cost and pollution created by battery manufacture and disposal seems to escape the birdbrains in the legislature)
In Yo Face, Hongry people. We got so much food we BURN IT !
Gas adulterated with corn juice is poison for small carbureted engines. Non-ethanol premium is more expensive but since I started using it I haven’t had to have any carbs rebuilt and that saves a LOT of $$$.

You mean the fact that I only paid $100 dollars for it and drove it for 12 years with almost no maintenance costs? Yeah, I won’t do that.
In most states, even the premium gas is still going to have ethanol in it.
Ha!!!
Y’all realize if we didn’t do this we could be getting better gas mileage AND cheaper bacon and steak???
