I loved his remark about managers serving the people. Right on. I've been there, and that is a remarkably winning (and remarkably uncommon) way to approach being the boss. He's just part of the team, and his role is diferent, but a huge part of making the team successful is to support the team, and not with simply "treating them well." In may ways, they are the boss, and the boss is the servant.

If you are a boss and you want the respect of your employees it pays to know everyone’s job at least as good as they do if not better.Otherwise you are just there and have authority above them. Authority in mgmt. needs to be earned.
