A friend had a tubal ligation, and some years later had excruciating pain and ended up at the closest Catholic hospital. She nearly died there. It turned out that she had a tubal pregnancy. She had to be transferred to another hospital which would deal with the at that point miscarriage and to remove an ovary. Scary stuff. I guess tubal ligations sometimes have issues over time.
It is a surgical procedure after all.
