My brother in Maryland married a white-trash woman. He was told that he was unable to have kids, so they adopted a kid. A few years later she got pregnant and she told him it was his. He thought it was a miracle. Then, when the kid started not looking like him he got suspicious and did a DNA test. The kid is not his. He went to a divorce attorney who told him that under Maryland law any child born during a marriage is legally the child of the husband and that not only couldn’t he use adultery as a ground for divorce, but if they did get divorced he would have to pay child support for the other guy’s kid.
Here’s how it works in Kansas - if someone challenges the paternity of the presumptive father - I.e. Married to mother, on BC, lived with, etc., the court appoints a guardian ad litem for the child. The GAL focuses on the child’s best interest.
Sometimes you just got to say no and let the chips fall where they may....
