Sessions saw the Russian collusion issue as politically motivated and didn’t want to be bothered by it. He figured (like most people) it was a “nothing-burger” and so recused himself.

The appropriate action of an AG to a "nothing-burger" is to end the investigation.

The inappropriate action is to recuse one self and to let the swamp people take over the investigation.

Backing out will never ingratiate you with the media or the deep state. Trump supporters are scratching their heads while the establishment considers you an idiot to be ruined anyhow.

Good point. But if there's no truth to the russian allegations then let the investigation play out. You seem guilty by ending it outright.

Sessions was between a rock and a hard place w/ Trump and the political backfire of abruptly ending an ongoing probe.

That supposes there was an investigation in the first place, yes? And if there is an investigation, he is supposed to steer clear of it when it presents a conflict of interest.

The only way Nifong got caught was by having to put up his evidence. Same goes for any unethical investigator or prosecutor. They are able to drag innocent people through the mud, because the system is designed to drag innocent people through the mud.

Then there is Congress and the press, cheering on the mud dragging, as if it is serious business. No evidence required, just imagination and insinuation.
