CHICAGO An Illinois sheriff's office said Wednesday that it has identified a Minnesota runaway as one of the victims of serial killer John Wayne Gacy.
In a news release, the Cook County Sheriff's Department said that the remains of a person whose body was found under the crawl space of Gacy's Chicago area home in 1978 were those of 16-year-old James "Jimmie" Byron Haakenson. The teenager had left his home in 1976 and was last heard from in August of that year when he called his mother and told her he was in Chicago.
Gacy was convicted of killing 33 young men and was executed in 1994. Haakenson was one of eight of Gacy's victims who were buried without being identified. Dart's office exhumed the remains of all eight in 2011 in an effort to identify them using DNA testing.

A pedophile serial killer, and he wasn’t the only one.
Gacy was a monster.
I was a boy in Chicago when that happened. My. Mom.Was.Freaked.Out! She was also afraid that the Moonies would kidnap me and brainwash me and make me sell flowers on the dide of the road.
Most Remembered dressing
As a Clown.
I Hate “Clowns.”
You might not believe this but Gacy tried to pick me up in Chicago in the summer of 1974. I had hitch hiked to Chicago as an 18 year old messing around waiting for freshman classes to start. He approached me three times offering to give me a lift to the city limits so I could hitch hike home. Thank God for my Gaydar!! Recognized the beast when I saw his arrest on TV a few years later.
He learned from Dean Corll...
I also wonder if they figured out who was in that mysterious polaroid they found in Elmer Wayne Henley’s possessions a few years back.
If it had been you, someone else might have lived.
Ever think of that?
I believe you, that’s insane.
Just thinking about this fiend get my BP to spiking. There was an article a couple of weeks back that discussed the ever increasing value of his clown paintings from his prison time. It was also in a you tube video on the ten most controversial works of art. (Mathew Santoro I think).
I don’t know that he ever killed any prepubescent kids. But he was a monster.
Thousands and thousands of people disappear every year in the states.
There are dozens of active serial killers out there that have not been caught.
In a strange irony, several years ago one set of remains previously ID’d as a missing runaway were disproven...because the person in question turned up alive and well in the Pacific Northwest.
The homosexuals sure have a problem with serial killers among their ranks.
Gacy wasn’t the only serial killer working in Chicago at that time.

OK, they were teenagers, so he was a homosexual serial killer. There’s a very high proportion of them among serial killers.
I remember there are pics of Serial Killer John Wayne Gacy with Hillary Clinton. Hmmmmm, did they share pizza?
Most people do not know he was also a activist Democrat. He had his picture taken with Rosalynn Carter.
Remember when this happened. He was evil.
That was a dark time in Houston. I still think of those boys and their families to this day. Still gives me the creeps to look at Henley. He still looks evil, just like his mentor. Tell you the truth Kriggerel, I haven’t heard that one about the polaroid pic. I think the new coroner ID’d another boy a few years back. All but one has been identified I think. There are probably more but I heard tell that the mayor and the powers that be stopped the digging. They didn’t want anymore bodies found. 27 was enough to deal with. I’ll always wonder.
omg....thank goodness you had common sense....
There are not too many of his paintings left. Years back when someone was auctioning them off a group of folks bought them all and burned them. So I guess that means a Gacy original is probably worth some bucks.
