“My cousin in law has GBM IV multiform. 4 yrs later hes still here...”
That is not the usual course for GBM. I just left my doctor’s office. His nurse and I were discussing my classmate and McCain. She said that he’s as good as dead. Now I know there are always exceptions to the rule, but my classmate and Teddy Kennedy followed the normal course for the disease, so I have to believe that it will be the most likely course for McCain. And while I have detested his Senatorial behavior, I could not wish what he’s going to go through on anyone short of the Mullahs in Iran or Kim Jong Un.
As far as I can tell from the public reports, McCain's discovery of this was pretty early. As far as I can tell, they didn't even see anything other than the blood clot until they actually took the clot out and biopsied it. That's when they found one or more cancer cells.
I'm no expert at all in this, but it sounds to me that this is about as early a detection as one can hope for. Perhaps the chemo can nip it in the bud, at least for a few more years.
I can only assume that's he's getting every test known to man to see if it has spread to anywhere else, and that he'll get the latest drugs/treatments available.
At his age probably true...but i thought the same about my cousin...doing remarkably well..but hes 38.
