Trump Urges Senate to Keep Working on Health Care Bill to Replace Obamacare

Republican Senators filed onto a bus Wednesday for a short trip to the White House for lunch where they heard President Donald Trump urge them to keep working to both repeal and replace Obamacare after their health care bill collapsed earlier this week.

"I'm ready to act," Trump said at the outset of the lunch, noting that he has his "pen in hand" to sign legislation. "For seven years you promised the American people that you would repeal Obamacare. People are hurting. Inaction is not an option and, frankly, I don't think we should leave town unless we have a health insurance plan, unless we can give our people great health care."

After he spent late Monday night and Tuesday endorsing a plan to just repeal Obamacare and then a plan to just let it fail on its own, Trump emphasized that he is supporting both a repeal and a replacement in the same bill.

"Not just repeal," Trump advocates again. "The people of this country need more than a repeal. They need a repeal and a replace."

The lunch, organized by the White House, is a last-ditch attempt to try and salvage any final vestiges of a bill meant to fulfill a campaign promise made by nearly every Republican senator as well as the president.

The key item from this post:

Trump: "I don't think we should leave town unless we have a health insurance plan, unless we can give our people great health care."

No vacation without repealing Obamacare. The ultimate test for Senators. What is more important to them: The health care of all Americans or the Senator's vacation plans?

Easy answer: Vacation Plans

Does VP Pence have the authority to keep them in session?

I'm not really sure what the rules are. But McConnell does have some power in that area.

Excellent question. Hopefully we have a knowledgeable Freeper.

Most of the Senate Republicans are rotten communists Democrats and have no interest in America. They fill their pockets with money and perks and to hell with us. Those opposed to total dumping Obamacare and should be exposed and kicked out at their next time to reinstall by their State.

“[The President] may, on extraordinary Occasions, convene both Houses, or either of them, and in Case of Disagreement between them, with Respect to the Time of Adjournment, he may adjourn them to such Time as he shall think proper....

ARTICLE II, SECTION 3”

I don’t think Pence has the authority, but Trump does. I would imagine a strong case could be made that this is an extraordinary Occasion.

What’s at issue here, as stated by Rand Paul, who on this subject I like, is Donahue and Trumka and Big Pharm wanting 70 billion dollars out of the taxpayers pocket so that the billions they already make will be even more.

Ryan and McDonell and others are bought and paid for and trying to steal 70 billion from Joe Sixpack’s family.

Trump should keep them in session from now until they pass health care and tax reform. Not even let them off for weekends.

“unless we can give our people great health care”

A Republican President is promising to give great health care to Americans.

We’re okay with this? Everyone cool?
