Modern government, at pretty much all levels, has become simply a jobs program that constantly seeks to increase its members. And of course 90+% of these members will vote for the Democrat party, the party of government.
Anyone who isnt a member of one of these jobs programs is a sap for playing

The more government employees the more power for the government unions. The civilian employees’ union on the Air Force base where I was a civilian employee has ruined that base.

First problem: Government employees should not be able to unionize. Second problem: People living off tax money should not be able to vote while they are on the teat or for two years thereafter. The question I always ask myself is, "if given the choice, would I voluntarily pay anyone to do Job X?" For most government functions, the answer to that question is "no."

This would probably lose a lot of conservative votes from disabled vets getting disability benefits from the VA, not to mention millions of conservative seniors drawing SS.

Maybe a little off topic but I have tried to get a government job even with Vet preference. It’s a dog and pony show, ridiculous paperwork and...if one is not of the protected class,it’s very difficult. Go to a typical government office state or federal. It’s the modern day plantation. Don’t forget nepotism.

I worked for a public employee union for years. I can attest to the fact that they have no use for taxpayers. Whenever they were told the budget needed to be cut, they would put ads out that poor and helpless women and children would be hurt, which was a lie. The truth was they were not giving up membership increases, wage hikes, Cadillac health plans for life after five years and their pension donations. They honestly believe that the person that determines eligibility for services should be compensated more than the professionals that provide the services, such as doctors.

People on SS and Disability have paid into those programs during their working lives to become eligible, so it is a little different from food stamps/welfare/section 8 entitlement programs.
