I’ve never worked in that industry, but would agree with you for the larger companies.

I was involved in local politics a few times. Over the years, I met a handful of “reporters” who were bright, honest, and pursued the truth. I really admired them. Even a few editors.

But the odd are really, really bad.

I’ve never had a government job. I did serve as a city councilman in at town of 10K people once. It paid $0. Felt it was important, but that was long ago, prior to 1986.

I’ve been an “observer” since the mid 1970’s. Some interest before that but it takes far too much time to stay on top of this.

Thank you for your service as a city councilman and observer. Too bad there aren’t more like you, serving out of a giving spirit instead of for pay and benefits.
