Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said on Monday night the Senate will try to separate the ObamaCare repeal and replacement efforts, closing the door on the current GOP healthcare legislation.
"In the coming days, the Senate will vote to take up the House bill with the first amendment in order being what a majority of the Senate has already supported in 2015 and that was vetoed by then-President Obama: a repeal of Obamacare with a two-year delay to provide for a stable transition period," McConnell said in a statement.
The move means Senate Republicans will try to repeal ObamaCare now, while kicking a replacement until after the 2018 mid-term election.

I’ll believe it when I see it.
Unusual times call for unusual measures.
This is probably the best way to go. It will give the GOP time to formulate a more sound policy. I hope it will.
Now, just explain it so that people don’t think they will be without any coverage for that two year period.
Hurry up and explain it clearly, otherwise the Dems will continue filling the void with more scare tactics and worser than worse case scenarios.
They should send Ted Cruz out to explain it.
Paul Ryan knows how, but I don’t think he wants to do anything that will help Trump to build his presidency any stronger. Too bad Paul, I had great hopes for you back in 2012. Rand Paul understands policy too, but he would be too negative and pessimistic to put voter minds at ease.
Every so often, Rand’s #NeverTrump tendancies resurface, unbidden.
Republicans will do what they said they would do? I don’t blame anyone for being skeptical but we should definitely encourage them!
“Smart move.”
Smart might be a bit generous when it takes three swings to realize the political promise version of a T-ball pitch has been hanging waist high the whole time.
The best aspect of today’s announcement is NOT that something good might possibly, maybe, yet come rolling down from The Hill. It is the fact that the steamer these guys wanted to dump on us WON’T be rolling down.
Failure has never smelled so sweet!
Free insurance shouldn’t mean free Viagra
Total repeal and return to status ante Obama, but force competition in the insurance market by allowing purchase across state lines and allow people to form coops to deal with the insurance companies. The Insurance companies are also villains in this. The big ones are crony capitalists using the government to limit competition. They backed Obamacare hoping for a killing and now that it is collapsing, want government support.
I agree. Puts them all on the spot with some wiggle room in 2018.
I don’t care what they do as long as it doesn’t raise my fees on my current health coverage to pay for someone else. I can accept the same rate of increase as it has been but no nasty surprises.
All I want is the repeal part anyhow. I’d prefer going “forward” to getting what you pay for. Capitalized Medicine. Let market forces increase competition, drive down prices, and spur innovative new cures.
Actually they don’t give a small rat’s ass what we think.
Or not. Still need 50 votes.
For republicans to hold their seats they had better REPEAL and allow insurance purchases across state lines. Do this republicans and the market will reward all Americans
True that
I have posted many times that this is th3 correct approach.
Viagra isn't free. My birth control is, but my dad's blood pressure medicine isn't. I've never been able to figure that one out.
Perhaps McConnell received a bad report from his physician, and has decided it is time to salvage what is left of his legacy.
How about the 2 year deadline, and what are the implications for a Trump re-election ?
The Party of the screwed up 2 car funeral strikes again.
Ya right.... If you believe this then you haven't been paying much attention to Washington lately.... :(
