This is breaking on McConnel's twitter feed. Statement to abandon repeal/replace for a straight repeal with a 2 year delay to replace.

Downright absurd that every other congress critter wanted to bail out insurers with 70 Billion in direct payments. Just proves they are for sale to the highest bidder.
No, I’m pretty certain they can’t. Lol.
It’s probably more like 1.5 years (the rest of this year plus next year) which is probably an appropriate amount of time for insurers to write plans for next year in time.
Repeal now, then drag your stupid, loser Republican feet in trying to pass another unconstitutional health care bill. At least we’ll be done with the first one.
You have a problem with a clean repeal and a delay for a replace? The longer the delay, the more time to have them come to their senses and stop using healthcare as a super expensive and wasteful welfare system.
Worst outcome? It’s really probably 1.5 years and CSRs aren’t nearly as bad as the medicaid expansion, which was set to become effectively permanent not to mention the 50+ employee mandate and the obamacare taxes. Get real Mr Smith. This is hardly the worst possible outcome.
Maybe this is a ploy to get McCain back so they can vote on something far worse.
And when the members of Congress ignore him? Then what?
Not much could be worse besides expanding medicaid even further or full single payer.
Yes, please, repeal now.
There should be no hurry to “replace.” In fact, the noise about “replace” is a trap.
After repeal, then the Republicans should systematically study the problems in the health care system, and address each of them separately. Trying to solve the problems with a one-size-fits-all “solution” is doomed to fail.
They would do well to learn the Army’s seven step method for problem-solving and apply it here.
No way Collins, Heller and Flake vote for a repeal of Obamacare. Dream on.
There is No need for a two year delay to kill Obama Care.It was done many times by the RINO’s during all of those phones votes the House and Senate Republicans took to get back into office.
Obama Care needs to be killed today so that the people can plan their financial futures.Without having to worry what the D.C. Clowns are doing.
Please explain to me how that would work exactly. Who would be raising armies and who would they be fighting against?
It would trigger no such thing. When it goes into practice, it will be with a whimper not a bang.
And what good is taking office if you don’t do what you say you were going to do?
It's a "do nothing" proposal. It isn't repeal in the usual definition of that word. Congress is not willing to tell the truth. Cost increases become cuts, to pick one example.
From what I gather, the proposed bill MIGHT BE (we don't know what it is, until it appears, and then you can count on the contents being mis-represented) a defunding at some future date.
Meanwhile, status quo.
Thank God we are (perhaps) going for a straight repeal. I’m not thrilled with the two-year delay, but it’s better than a bad replacement.
Yes, I think you have it.
When they voted while Obama was ready to veto, their vote was for show, it did not matter. But now, it matters.
McConnell surely knows that it now matters. It is thus a mystery as to why he would put it out there given that it could expose members up for reelection next year.
The betrayer of Mississippi, the facilitator of Gorsuch, has become a mystery of contradictions and inconsistency to those that value principled predictability.
Before ascending to Majority Leader, McConnell briefly showed an alignment with Tea Party and the Conservative Caucus groups. Then he quickly disappeared under the comforting sheets of the establishment.
Where is he now? Who is he?
It gives them two years to come up with a worse replacement. The President and virtually all the Republicans in Congress are for repeal and replace, not repeal and leave it at that.
