“If California was a stand-alone country without an inflow is US tax dollars, picking up that expense alone would sink their economy.”
So, you just invent stuff for fun?
CA pay 20% more in Federal taxes than it receives in Federal expenditures. And has for over 50 years. Every year.
As for power, CA is a net exporter.
Cut out the federal funds and let California support one third of the US welfare load on its own, cut off power coming into the state and see what happens. It’s always a convenient way to make the accounting books look good when you take money from different pockets. California makes Enron accounting look good.
Uhhhhhhh...You might want to rethink that.
I knew that wasn't true.
So I went to look it up.
Found this on Wikipedia:
"As of 2014, 33.0% of electricity was imported, and of that, 45.4% was of unspecified origin."
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Energy_in_California
33% seemed high and I never take Wikipedia as gospel
So I found this
http://www.energy.ca.gov/almanac/electricity_data/electricity_generation.html
California grand total power generation plus imports. 295,405 gigawatts.
California instate power generation 196,194 gigawatts
Almost 100,000 gigawatts, about 33%, is imported to California.
Your FACTS are questionable, but then, moved there in ‘58, left in ‘94. http://californiapolicycenter.org/californias-total-state-local-debt-totals-1-3-trillion/
