Rainbow City PD releases video to refute claims of officer brutality
In an effort to silence claims of police brutality made in a viral Facebook post, Rainbow City police have released body camera video of a traffic stop that occurred Thursday night.
The post, which has been shared 28,600 times as of early Friday evening, claims officers beat, use a stun gun and pushed a man off a bridge around 10 p.m. The post says the man was taken to a Gadsden hospital and airlifted to UAB Hospital, but next of kin was not notified. Photos of the man in a hospital bed with a bloody mouth were also posted.
"Rainbow city beat him half to death and pushed him off a bridge," the post said. "The people who are supposed to serve and protect. He's trying to talk but his whole front row of teeth are knocked out, he had to have his tongue sewed back together and his femur bone is broken he has to have surgery on it."
Chief Jonathon Horton said he found out about the Facebook post Friday morning.
He released a 30-minute video of the incident Friday night, which shows the man jumping off the bridge during the traffic stop.

In general, I wish to suggest that we as a land could stand to put on a more positive mindset.
Rather than “anti-brutality” we could focus on “pro-humanity.” The one will exclude the other, and good is more powerful than evil.
I would never want to have a country on this mortal coil that forbade arms, and yet if that became our first resort when encountering trouble then we would have thrown something valuable away too. This is where something higher even than our Constitution has to be allowed to speak. Something from heaven itself.

"...Rainbow City..."
Samantha needs to go to jail for false reporting of a crime, incitement to riot, and related charges if she swears to any of this.
I wonder how many halfwits and racist cop-hates are going to buy this “fake news” and run with it, all the way to the liquor store which they will rob and loot before burning it down.
Let’s just wait a big hairy minute.
Somebody steals almighty God’s rainbow, and we just meekly acquiesce?
What are these “Conservatives” conserving? It seems mighty shallow to me.
We’ve never yet done that for mere scurrilous news coverage. The result of trying would be to jump out of the frying pan of private media lies into the fire of statism.
As for “pay for” — that’s a pretty nebulous concept. Are they expected to suffer in image? As a result of assault? Politically? It is not said. But nobody asked for a liquor store to be robbed and looted and burned here. That’s someone else’s ideas.
I know I’m going against the grain here, but a people that forgets to be humane is indeed going to find itself paying a price. First its souls will coarsen, then its actions will coarsen, then various untoward results of its actions will come upon it. And God will let it thus keep on slowly spiraling towards hell until finally it either gets there and self annihilates, or else it calls out so urgently and earnestly to God that He sees the sincerity and begins to answer.
People like Samantha who are upset at spectacles like this shouldn’t impotently rage. They should flee to the comfort of God who not only hears sorrows and honors sympathy, but who also acts and directs aright to deal with problems of destruction in constructive ways, which may entail focused righteous rebukes as well as new encouragement to do the right things.
As the bible says: “be angry without sinning.”
I believe as a society we’ve gotten so individualist on one side (we often call that conservative), and so mindlessly communitarian on the other (we often call that liberal), that we’ve forgotten the good Lord who would bless both individuals and communities to a harmonious united plan that is simultaneously both generous and reflective of the holiness of heaven.
Don’t understand the second part of your comment. I don’t see where I said “pay for”. And “who” “Are they expected to suffer in image?” Not clear at all.
I welcome further clarity.
From Wikipedia: This city was named after U.S. Highway 411, called Rainbow Drive, which runs through the middle of the city.[5] Some of the older citizens say it was named after the US 42nd Infantry Division, known as the "Rainbow Division".
Welcome to humanity. It will be a mere matter of time until God finds you ignorant of something too.
Well actually, what I didn’t know seems now to bolster my point.
God is like that towards people who seek His heart. They will find a lot of pleasant surprises.
I committed the “sin” of referring back to the original statement by Samantha. So “sorry” for the accuracy.
I always appreciate proper attribution:
Ephesians 4:26 "In your anger do not sin."
Regards,
I’m glad you do, and I’m glad you furnished it. Even if your motive was to be nitpicky, God uses it for good.
Ephesians is a particularly important book here. It deals with a situation of intense spiritual warfare.
If you’re going to jump off a cliff, don’t bellyflop
would obama say he acted stupidly?
Police should have left the thug there.
The police are totally at fault!
First the cop said, “we know who you are, man”, which was provocative to a productive citizen with that extensive a criminal record. Then when the aspiring singer, who was just getting ready to go back to college, started the healthy habit of running for fitness, the cop yelled, “get on the ground”. Of course the young scholar immediately obeyed in the fastest possible manner. He jumped off the bridge to the ground 19 feet below, but only because he thought that’s what the cop meant - he was cooperating.
