I could be completely wrong about this, but no other obvious reason is forthcoming to my mind as to why someone would kill four young men. Drugs were involved. Nothing good ever happens when drugs are involved.

Drugs were involved. Nothing good ever happens when drugs are involved. Meth can make people hyper paranoid. Perhaps that coupled with someone already suffering psychotic issues was enough to flip his switch into full out psycho.
