Part of the brain have suffered catastrophic damage, aka died. There is no brain regeneration there today are no known methods to renerate dead brain areas. There are easier battles in which to wage holy crusades against to fight socialized medicine. A child in this condition isn’t one and if the only thing keeping the child alive are machines then Let the poor child die in peace.

Waging a holy political battle against socialized medicine with the backdrop of a child in a vegetative state is just as detestable

You don't seem to get the real point here. The parents' rights to try to give THEIR baby every chance are being trampled by the hospital/UK/EU collective. None of those people had a hand in conceiving that baby, carrying him to term, and birthing him. None of them have suffered right along side their son. None of them love him. He is just a case to them, nothing more.

If a parent can't make the most intimate and personal decisions about trying to give their own baby a chance, however slim, then the state should just confiscate all babies at birth. There are states that did this very thing...Soviet Union, Mao's Red China, and Hitler's Germany. You are squarely on their side, whether or not you realize it.

First off, why in the world would we believe testimony from the same doctors who are refusing to release this baby to die at home?

Second, I have seen numerous statements from friends and family of the Gard’s stating that the baby is not on any pain relief medication, and no tests have been done to confirm that he is actually blind or deaf. I’ve read that he has brain damage but I haven’t read anything that says he’s in a vegetative state.

From what I understand, these parents have been trying for a long time to get their child help. Who knows how successful the treatment would have been if it had been given in a more timely manner, The fight may not help this particular child, but it may result in his ultimate death not being in vain if it exposes the destructive nature of socialized medicine.

Not to mention the fact that the "State", for fear of being defied, will not even allow this child to die in the peace of his own home.

And who are you to pontificate that there is no hope for the child? Are you a doctor? I’m just guessing here, but if it were YOUR child, you’d be singing a different tune. This is as good a hill to die on as any.

I have worked with brain injured children and neuroplasticity is a very real thing. Besides, the child’s survivability is only part of the issue. The larger picture here is parent’s rights but it appears you miss that.
