It’s an old play from the lib game-book: invite a lawsuit against a law you don’t like, decline to defend, and lose by default.

I recall differently. He ran on securing the border, deporting criminals, and "looking for a solution" for those who were honest, hard working. I don't recall him taking a negative position vis-a-vis the "dreamers."
