Blacks started out reporting acts they believed were true acts of racism against blacks.
When there weren't enough genuine acts of racism they began manufacturing them by leaving racist notes, making false charges of white on black rape,
burning fake KKK crosses in their own yards, and setting fire to their own black churches.
Homosexuals started out by reporting acts they viewed as discrimination against homosexuals.
When there weren't enough genuine acts of discrimination to make their case they took a lesson from blacks.
The resorted to creating situations they could take offense with (bakeries, photographers) and/or just manufactured false flag events out of thin air.
When muslims first learned they could intimidate Americans with charges of anti-muslim bias they just bypassed any pretense of honesty.
Instead of waiting for genuine acts of bias to occur they just went directly to creating acts of discrimination out of whole cloth (clock boy).
When the Mainstream leftist news media couldn't find enough anti-conservative, anti republican, anti-Trump news they just started making news up.
By their standards it worked so well that they have pretty much abandoned any pretense of reporting real news.
Fake News fits their narrative much better and they always have the exact story the need for the moment.

And as you point out, Fake News is so much more convenient for the Victim Alerts than waiting for actual incidents of true victimhood.
Especially when the victim outrage act in question never really occurs anymore.
Nobody hangs nooses anywhere anymore. In fact, other than the actual lynchings themselves — which are a horrible part of our history — there are probably zero incidents of nooses being used as a symbol to intimidate.
Those were probably all made up, from at least the 1960s on.
So no actual nooses being hung on doorknobs to intimidate people so We The Leftists have to make our own nooses, hang them about the campus and then scream bloody murder about our Sacred Victimhood.
(That’s just one example that comes to mind. There are a million of them out there in our poor abused country.)
