Unfortunately the “good employees” at the various VA’s around the nation are being judged unfairly by the acts of others. (Bad apples can spoil the entire barrel). I have been using the VA in Tomah, WI for many, many years and have found only 1 person who needed a “tune up” of the services they provided. Unfortunately, all too often the good employees are judged unfairly by the acts of others.
The document provided by the VA says “removal” next to many job titles. Whether that’s the same as “fired,” I don’t know. Could it mean the person was “removed” from job A but will turn up again in job B? Could it mean “nudged into retirement”? Were these career employees with full union representation, contract employees, career-conditional employees (in their first year or so of employment)?
One would like dishonest or incompetent employees to be *fired*, but knowing how extraordinarily difficult this is, for government, more detail would be helpful.
He went beyond the EO, congress passed a law giving the VA the authority to fire employees.
