So, let me get this straight. Mann files a libel suit because Ball claims Mann used faked data, but then Mann refuses to submit to the court the data in question. You couldn’t make this up.

Mann had to know that the data business would come up sooner or later. I would suspect that he had a fraudulent data package set up for the case and his experts warned that a fake package would be identified and destroy the case.

He was gambling that, for fear of being called "a Denier", he had like minded willing accomplices on the court who would not ask/make him present his data.
He should rot in hell.

Science is broken. We've gotten to the point at which at least 50% of published data is either wrong and/or the product of questionable methods and honesty. Peer review has become a joke, with collaborators and friends reviewing each other’s manuscripts, and colluding on grant reviews, and the editorial boards of high profile journals lowering the bar for manuscripts from high visibility labs. Some US grant review study sections have been corrupted by groups of researchers who suppress funding of proposals that promote theories different than their own. Some study sections have undue influence of foreign nationals, now holding green cards, who ‘protect their own’, favoring the grants of those from their country of origin.
It's out of control.

No doubt because he was expecting Hillary in office with BO working her marionette strings.
