First, I do not believe NK has the capability of a large scale EMP attack.

Secondly, I believe your listed scenario of the effects of a large scale EMP attack is greatly over exaggerated. Will, there be problems, yes. But I do not see the doomsday level of problems as you indicate.

Thus, the grid needs to be updated to avoid potential problems, even though I do not see the doomsday level as some would like to promote.

Also, don’t forget humans have a great ability to adapt and survive should your doomsday scenario come to pass.

A ‘large scale’ (to use your term Franklin) EMP attack is ONE nuclear weapon exploded a hundred miles above Denver.

ONE

ONE weapon.

And yes, within 18 months North Korea will be able to do that - and if North Korea sells it's technology to other rogue States or Terrorist Groups the act becomes a statistical certainty.
