Washington (AFP) – Americans celebrate Independence Day on Tuesday, and to mark the occasion President Donald Trump tweeted a partisan video clip of a church choir singing a song based on his campaign slogan.

“Make America great again / Lift the torch of freedom all across the land / Step into the future joining hand in hand / And make America great again,” sings the choir of the First Baptist Church, a megachurch in Dallas, Texas.

The 2:15 clip was taken from Saturday’s “Celebrate Freedom Rally” at the Kennedy Center in the US capital.

“Your music honors our heroes more eloquently than words could ever do,” Trump said at the rally.

Author loves the word partisan, but I don’t think they know what it means?

Only in liberal La-La land would this be considered “provocative”.

Was it ‘partisan’ every time Obama mentioned hope?

I’m beaming ear to ear listening to my president’s great Independence Day tweet. Anyone who loves America is inspired, those that hate America are exposed bigly!

Sounds pretty generically American to me. The MAGA theme is the only possible tie to Trump.

Funny the reactions I got to a song with a similar theme. No, we can’t present this at our diverse church! It would offend the Hillary voters!

Wishing this and similar efforts a lot of success. It may be hard hoeing however.

“Author loves the word partisan, but I don’t think they know what it means?”

Pretty OBVIOUS - today’s definition of ‘partisan’ means someone who loves the country for what it is today (excluding the latest social experiments) and wants America to stay strong against a very dangerous world.

To the Left, wanting the above is considered a HATE CRIME, no different than burning a cross in front of a black person’s house.

That’s nothing. They were also singing this incredibly warlike song about “the bombs bursting in air”. I had to go find my safe space.

Since when is the phrase Make America Great Again a "provocative partisan" assault?

I guess if one actually wanted America to stay in the toilet.......

"one self-described evangelical Christian took exception with the song."

“Pledging allegiance to God and to America in the same breath, melding together the kingdom of God and self, they pray a blasphemous prayer to a red, white and blue Jesus,” said Jonathan Aigner, a Methodist director of music ministries."

A Methodist is about as "evangelical" as a Marxist is Conservative.
