Okay, let us clarify......

....this quote came from a Delaware Republican email. It is what the state of Delaware is charged for the services as delineated.

So I want the library painted, the contractor has 5 painters on the job spending 20 hours painting. Delaware has to pay the “prevailing wage” rate per the listing. Which would be $almost fifty bucks an hour.

This prevailing wage is achieved by I don’t know what method....negotiating I suspect. It’s not the union wage, it’s certainly not a minimum wage.

It’s a wage that Delaware politicos put into law mind you, that they would pay for those services on all public buildings. They all got into a smoke filled room, agreed on amounts of future political contributions....yada, yada.

How much the painter gets paid might not be that high but this is what Delaware pays to have public libraries painted by some mystical agreement of the gods.

It’s corrupt and probably illegal on some level but they do it and get away with it.

Delaware is a predominantly Democratic state with Wilmington now being called “Murder City”.

Now the Democrats want to eliminate interest and property tax deductions for people like me because they consider the middle class the rich people.

Ok, I thought the State like many lib States are required by law to hire only union and I naturally assumed they would be paid prevailing union wages.

I do believe some States require ALL workers on government jobs be paid prevailing union wages even if they are not themselves union. This is an attempt to protect the unions.
