I’m glad that people are finding work but I have to say that I consider particleboard to be a crime against humanity. Particleboard is too heavy, breaks easily, provides food for cockroaches and crickets, and It make shit furniture.

They are not making furniture out of it.

As for the rest...DONT BUY IT THEN.

I used it in my bathroom walls and it cleans, you can paint over it and it rejects moisture. If you get the right stuff.

They should build the place out of particleboard then. Not only would it produce karma, but it would generate a chicken-egg conundrum as well.

Maybe for you. But since you have no common sense at all, this means over 3000 direct and non direct jobs...if not more.

Since the Unions have ruined your GD iron mines in N. MN you should have a clue about JOBS.

I’m not saying that sawdust does doesn’t have a use, I just think they could find a way to make a better board produc out of it than that of particleboard.

And they do use it for furniture and cabinets. I’m guessing you’ve never been to IKEA, a huge store full of flatpacked, plastic-laminated, particleboard crap. My parents bought me a set of furniture made out of particleboard when I was in the early 89s and it was too heavy and broke apart the first time it was moved.

As for your bathroom I think you would have been better off using cement board.

And Northern Wisconsin. My grandfather logged in the UP during the period 1908-1916. I had a relative killed in a sawmill accident.

I SAID THEY DONT intend primary use for furniture.

Their biggest customer is going to be the RV industry.

Ans I wouldnt use cement board in my bathroom for anything other than the floor-maybe.

Matter of fact, my siding is a type of particleboard. Why? Because the contractors around here advised me to use that instead of STUCCO. And I havent got to get out every friggan other year to fix the cracks like the stucco boys do..then repaint the whole house after.

Hey wanna know how much it costs me to cool my house each year with about 2 inches of wood on my walls? Total cooling and heating costs are less than 1000 dollars. I cool this house with a 14 thousand BTU air conditioner. Thats a 1100 SQ ft house.

The guys who build these cookie cutter houses should be run out and hanged, the bastards.

BTW, nearly all your furniture is now brought in from overseas. Even the hardwood is shipped overseas to be made into components and brought back here for assembly. Try and find Richardson Bros furniture anymore. Was the best, and its out of business as a result of foreign cheap labor.

We used to call it Oriented Strand Board when it was invented in the 80s.

I agree, they could at least use some sort of waterproof resin in that crap.

OSB is NOT the same as particle board. Different products.

OSB isnt particleboard. Although I guess you could compare it in a way. OSB is a board made with a type of chip. All glued together and pressed into board, then cut.

OSB is stronger than plywood.

Particleboard is fine sawdust glued together and then overlayed with a impregnated paper-either a paper and plastic composite or something similar. Counter tops are particleboard, unless you have granite or marble.
