Facebook co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg wants his social network to fill the role that churches and social clubs once did in communities.

Looney tunes.
And Mark will be both Pope and President.
Smart. Megalomaniacal,too.
facebook is a church of Satan.
Curious just how much first hand experience Mr. Z has with church. Synagogue?
No - just the church of retards
Unfortunately, I'm not certain that is true.
Of course, these global elites want you to see them as the church.
Zuckerberg is a god in his own mind. Golden Calf syndrome?
Zuckerberg is a Secular Humanist bastard.
Christianity has been around for two-thousand years. Facebook will eventually go the way of MySpace
The “Church” was doing just fine until the non-believers pushed governments into attempting to provide the important “role.” Governments have failed at this because of top heavy managements and administrations.
I believe that my church is a better judge of who gets help and who doesn’t.
+1.
Our culture is becoming more isolated. People interact face to face less and less. I blame, in part, technology. Facebook is like a loud bar. You can “be” with people but you can’t really have a conversation or develop real intimacy.
...And Zuckerberg can be god.
Is this guy insane or what?
“Christianity has been around for two-thousand years.”
There are 2.1 billion Christians.
And 2.0 billion Facebook users.
Scary.
People are stopping going to church for a lot of reasons. Some because they have turned away from Christianity, or some because their church has turned away, and they haven't found a replacement (see ELCA, Methodist....).
I really think churches have a problem going forward. Society as a whole is moving to a "get it when I want it" in regards to various things. Broadcast TV of "I have to be in front of my TV at 9PM Thursday to watch Hill Street Blues" is long gone. Same thing can happen to churches as Millennials become the "grown-ups". Harder to convince people to go to a place at 9:30AM every Sunday morning.
I don't know what the answer is. But for a growing segment of the population, social networks like Facebook, and joining groups of like minded people can take the place of going to some building at 9:30AM on Sunday.
Zuckerberg seems to be challenging God with this outrageous statement.
If God decides to react then Mark may have a real problem on his hands.
