The cover story that they're going to concentrate on their digital presence is a little thin. How you end up needing fewer editors as a result of going from dead trees to live electrons is a mystery - the content hasn't changed, nor has the editorial flow, both of which are already fully digitized.

Sympathy may be a bit hard to come by. These were, after all, the same arrogant jerks who portrayed the unemployed coal miners as an alien species last election. Karma can be like that.

Carlos Slim has decided their propaganda isn’t worth much.... he can afford to subsidize it but doesn’t want to lose money forever.
