Many thanks for the heads-up. I have a Hecho en Mexico Frigidaire currently. No complaints, but I'd have preferred something made in USA.
I've been looking at the Samsung washers and dryers at Lowes. Any comment? I imagine they have the same problems as the Samsung refrigerators.
I actually do have a Samsung washer/dryer and they’ve been much better (knock on wood) than the fridge. I don’t know if I just ended up with a lucky good batch or not, but in 7 years, I have only had the repair guy out once for a simple repair on the washer door closure. I’ve heard tales of woe from others. I wouldn’t buy another set mostly because the experience with the fridge was so unbelievably bad.
That said, I really don’t know if any other brands are any better these days. Maybe they aren’t. Maybe the days of these items lasting any decent amount of time before requiring replacement are over.
From Housewife: I love my Samsung refrigerator. Almost ten years old. Has freezer drawer with ice maker—also an ice maker in frig part with water filter. The two ice makers are VERY nice to have!!
I have a Bosch washer, dishwasher and dryer. Would not consider anything but a Bosch for “water works”—
I loved my Samsung washer and dryer. The washer was so quiet, I wasn’t sure if it was even running!
A couple of years ago, I rented a home in Florida for a year and all of the appliances were new.
There was also a Samsung refrigerator with the French doors and the custom controlled drawers; awesome!
They had a GE stove and GE microwave/convection oven. Absolutely awful. The oven was terrible- especially for baking- and the microwave/convection oven was so difficult to use that we just bought a cheap microwave at WalMart.
I have all Samsung electronics- started with my cell phone years ago- and have no complaints.
