Not all single payer is the same - and different schemes meet the needs of different groups, or constituencies.
The Canadian system lacks a private pay safety valve. In the UK, that works reasonably well. It would be even better if private insurance there was more widely available.
Hillary’s bill included a $50 000 fine and FIVE YEARS IN PRISON for a doctor taking a fee to treat a US citizen outside of her system. You can be sure that the Democrat version of single payer will have something like that.
But what people want (and I’ve been sending doctor bills for 43 years) is to take Johnny or Jane in for the sore throat, not seeing a “we take VISA” sign, and having the checkout girl say only,”I hope Johnny feels better soon”.
THAT version of single payer is very doable.
Wrong Jim. I have a sister that lives in Canada and uses both the public system and also goes to private clinics and specialists. She pays through the teeth but can afford it with minimal waits and top notch service. Vancouver, BC.
