NBC’s Megyn Kelly Problem (Column)
Variety ^ | June 21, 2017 | Sonia Sarayia

The network’s vaunted new hire has whiffed her first opportunities to shine. Did NBC make a $17.5m mistake?

It’s still months before Megyn Kelly’s new NBC daytime show is set to premiere, but it already feels like the former Fox News anchor has overstayed her welcome. Only three weeks into her Sunday-night newsmagazine show — a “Dateline” style piece, structured around her interviews with high-profile “gets” — Kelly’s star is dimmer than ever. It’s a far cry from where she was just a year ago.

2016 was a banner year for Kelly: After a wave of flattering media coverage, she led round-the-clock election coverage for Fox News — anchoring one of its highest-rated programs, “The Kelly File,” and shoring up the network’s credibility on women’s issues as it reported on, and sometimes sparred with, then-candidate Donald Trump. If Bill O’Reilly was the face of the network, Kelly — a photogenic former lawyer — was the face of the future. It was Kelly’s complaints that finally ended Roger Ailes’ reign of sexual harassment at the network; an indication of changing times, a changing company, and Kelly’s worth to the network. [My emphasis.]

Kelly was “a star” to the libs when she helped them take down Ailes, damage Fox, and criticize Trump.

Now that she’s no longer useful, they feel free to discard her like a used Kleenex.

Agreed. I’m getting too serious about a ho-hum topic.

It’s all about brand! Once damaged in the public opinion market you seldom recover. First her audience didn’t follow her. She has no coat tails. She is trying to go from a reader to an interviewer. Tough to make that jump. She is coming up short. She will shortly join Ann Curry in who was she team?

Is TV Guide still around in the US? It died in Canada years ago. Sears cashed its chips in yesterday and are closing their 59 stores in Canada as well.

Me aGAIN did a real nice job in the beginning of her prime time show on FOX. Success and adoration got to her head and she became a spoiled, prissy beetch thinking herself of greater importance and influence. If her career is kaput she has no one to blame. Laura Ingraham more worthy of a show in prime time has far greater talents but also far less of a whore factor than MK.

Then they are shocked and indignant about their feminist rights being abused by males who looked at them.

The wrong males. The right males (who meet the required appearance and/or net income standards) are, as always, welcome to look. :)

Report: NBC wants out, asking FNC to buy back Megyn’s contract.

So Me-again complains about Ailes, takes less money to leave the network, becomes a liberal and then Ailes dies. If she stuck around another 2 months she would still have the highest rated show.

Boy, that sucks. lol

My point is I’d love to fail at her level, with all the money she’s already made. But I realize for the entertainment mind set they feel lost without a following. In the words of that dimwit professor recently, boo hoo hoo.

You’re right. I hadn’t thought of it that way. If she had stayed put, she would have made more money, still had a highly-rated show, and no Roger Ailes to deal with.

If JR didn’t like that comment he will really hate mine.
At 2 dollars a pop Meagain Keester is going to spend a lot of time on her knees to earn that 17.5 mil.
