Apparently you don’t know about Joe Bonamasa, Derek Trucks, and a big resurgence of interest in American folk, which is guitars, various fiddles, etc.
And here’s a new LZ-ish band of - well - children! But it’s darn sure pretty good rock.

The point being, there are some getting into the old stuff, and making new stuff.
I’m 66 and find the new American folk and bluegrass by young bands to be largely excellent. As always there hits and misses, but the genre is really good. I’m listening to lots more custom music lists thanks to Spotify, Pandora and Tidal. I bought a BlueSound Node 2 streamer and love it.
It’s a different era without a few channels on AM and FM dials picking winners. Now you have thousands of crystal clear channels at your beck and call.
I love Bonamasa...and although I haven’t played any music in a while, I’m thinking about picking up some new instrument. I’m a singer and have played guitar, but singing is my thing, so playing an instrument has to be easy.
And I am a big fan of the new style of American folk music. It’s been around a while and is a bit hard to describe, but it’s just good stuff!
I love a lot of different styles of music- as I get older it gets harder to narrow it down to even a few- I just love GOOD music and whatever I’m in the mood for!

Any of it inspiring tens of thousands to pick up guitars?
The biggest new demographic buying guitars are teenage girls, fueled in large part by Taylor Swift.
On another note, you can get a great quality cheap guitar nowadays. Really no comparison to the low end crap of the 60s and 70s. In fact I’ve played Squire strats that are far better quality than the CBS era USA Fender I owned in the 70s. You certainly don’t get 10 times the quality for 10 times the money.
