The loss of a seat is a two sided coin. NYS loses a seat but within NYS the flight is mostly in rural areas. NYC is maintaining or gaining population. The the represention will be more liberal over all. The city districts will get smaller and the rural larger.
If he’s sincere about asking Christ for his forgiveness then well, ok, but the fact he’s a Democrat makes me doubt every word he utters.
The other thing to note is that NYS is not losing population. It is just not gaining population as fast as the rest of the country. And looking at county level data, Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx, in that order, have experienced the states largest overall population increases since 2010, driven mainly by large natural increases i.e more babies being born than people dieing. Those boroughs also have smaller net foreign immigration increases.
Lastly, I was surprised to see Suffolk county is losing population mainly due to net domestic migration, falling birthday and rising deaths. The folks who moved out there in the 50s and 60s are leaving, dieing and not having babies.
NYC isn’t growing enough to ensure the state doesn’t lose at least one seat. Even with all the welfare clients and illegals the state is importing.
AND since most of the state’s Republican Critters are RINOs, I imagine that Albany will try to gerrymander the Reps who aren’t out of office. But it won’t help. If anything, the state will just circle the bowl faster. It can with our blessing. We’re getting the hell out.
