My wife would smack me up side the head is I ever called her an Asian; she’s Oriental.
Reminds me of an old joke about Vice President Spiro Agnew. He accompanied Nixon on the trip to China. One of his hosts remarked about the niceties of an Occidental visitor.
"Oh no, We're here on purpose!"...

Gotcha
I was totally gobsmacked when Oriental became an offensive term.
How the times they have a’changed
“...My wife would smack me up side the head is I ever called her an Asian; shes Oriental....”
I sometimes refer to my wife as “blackhead” or “Dragon Lady”. My Thai sister-in-law and I also call her E-gaa, which is a somewhat impolite form of Old Lady.
