This fire reminds WAY too much of the tragedies of the Cocoanut Grove nightclub fire from 1942 and the Hartford circus tent fire from 1944--the flammable materials went up so fast there was no chance of escape.

This fire reminds WAY too much of the tragedies of the Coconut Grove nightclub fire from 1942... My Dad told me that his oldest brother (who died before I was born) almost died in that fire....just barely managed to get out unharmed.

Agreed. Except those tragedies were incidents that we learned from. People died here because no one required this building to be brought up to code.
Actually, it reminds me of the Ghostship, the perps of which were just apprehended and jailed.

Yes, but nobody lives in a nightclub or a circus tent. this building houses hundreds of people. My mind is boggled by this dreadful event. And evidently the government is being nearly completely useless in the aftermath.

Ditto the Great White Concert fire of 2003.
