The Book was Death Knell For DDT
Oh my. We have fragile egg shells. Uh, that’s where the term “Walking on egg shells.” came from. Because they’re fragile you have to be careful with them. I really don’t like these people.
The death knell for DDT was government contracts that paid by the pound without limit for aerial spraying campaigns. Of course you are going to have some heavy negative environmental impacts, any pesticide would exhibit same if you sprayed millions of pounds of it wantonly.
Given its persistence it should have been used more like antibiotics, general education to get people to eliminate breeding sources and point use for significant occurrences.
I occasionally drive by the Rachel Carson Wildlife Refuge on the Maine cost, and I want to spit out the window every time I go by.
