To: Lonesome in Massachussets

Good post. In another life I was a Navy ship driver. Our captain always expected us to make a significant maneuver to find open water well before we got close to another ship, regardless of who had the right of way. As we always said, “A collision at sea can ruin your entire day”.

I wonder if the Navy vessel was headed into port, and liberty, and the people on the bridge didn’t want to lose time? Merchant vessels always steer the cheapest, fastest course, Navy vessels are in the not-for-profit sector.
