Zagros Rifles, named for the mountain range that runs through the Kurdish heartland, are locally fabricated weapons, constructed from parts of large caliber (12.7, or 14.5 mm) Russian rifles. They have served as long range sniper rifles, and as anti-materiel rifles for Kurdish guerillas. Today, they are widely used in the fight against ISIS.

Not only do they look like fun, they’re clearly an excellent way to meet eligible ladies.

They are simply great people. I’m lucky enough to come to know some of them over past 3 years.

(have never met any in person)

I’d seen some of them in pictures. The Daesh had something similar but not as portable during the Kobani period. This is probably the reaction to having them used on themselves.

Pretty amazing. Thanks for the article. Adds a smile and great warm feeling to my day.

I imagine it does have a kick when fired.

Women make excellent snipers.

Attention to detail and patient.

Kudos to these gals. I don’t shoot the 308 often because it is incredibly loud and can set me back a few inches unless I am prone. Looks like I would need to support myself with a tree to fire that one.

My wife shoots a 270 WSM and shoots it well. Love the looks on peoples faces when she brings out the 270 WSM while they’re shooting 243’s. In her 50’s weighs about 120 and stands 5’-2”. When the men talk about so called ladies rifles she tells them to go get stuffed. She liked my 300 Weatherby so much I got here a 257 Weatherby, then she said she wanted something with a little more umph for Elk hunting so we went with the 270 WSM. She wasn’t getting my 300!
