Former German chancellor Helmut Kohl died Friday at age 87. His legacy includes reuniting Germany after the Cold War and helping to create the continent's common currency, the euro.
US President Donald Trump says Kohl was a "friend and ally" to the United States as he led Germany through 16 pivotal years.....

Are you thinking of his predecessor, Helmut Schmidt? I don’t remember Kohl speaking English much.
Schmidt wrote entire books in English, he was that fluent.
Kohl didn’t speak much English, but he had a sense of humor. After Germany was reunified there were anguished cries of `here comes the Fourth Reich’, complete with a Chancellor who was an insomniac just like Hitler, said to have planned invasions during his sleepless bouts.
Kohl, who was overweight, laughed it off and declared that when he awoke at night, the only place he was thinking of invading was the refrigerator.
Kohl and Schmidt: two different governing styles but both ten times better than the current harridan in Berlin.
