Don’t remove the poor quality fruit expecting an improvement of the vineyard—observe the whole vine and determine the lay of the roots. Decisive pruning will reduce the offensive vine’s potential to corrupt the garden; however, one must always find the root of the issue, no matter how well obscured, which must be removed for new growth to prosper.
