Most of my neighbors all moved to our area for the very reasons I stated in the OP. They have really nice lawns, but they also have chickens. We live in farm country. And most of them are starting to attempt gardening most for the first time.

I started with the garden because that's a real passion of mine. I hope to have chickens by next year. :)

I would say you aren't a serious prepper if you don't have chickens. eggs for your dinner and legs for next winter
