Steve Scalise dragged himself into the ball field to get away, while shots going overhead from both sides.
Flake ran to Scalise to render aid.
Rand Paul was there. His account:
Rifle used. First shot nobody reacted, then 5-10 in a row.
He was at farthest spot. Stayed behind an oak tree. 50-60 shots from shooter. Capitol police returned fire with handguns. “Nobody would have survived without Capitol police...Would have been massacre without them.”
Both police, Scalise, two or three staffers were wounded. Capitol police officer (woman?) airlifted to hospital.
Politicians and celebs have armed security. We don't. Always carry and don't let any of the Ruling Elites take your 2nd Amendment rights away.
