I heard some former military guy on Fox say the Afghan Army “still needs more training”. Really? After 15 years of training what is another 5 or 10 years going to “teach” them? What was that definition of insanity?
Yep. They are tribesmen. Tribesmen don’t consider themselves citizens of a nation, they are members of a tribe, first and foremost. Their only real ambition is to be a warrior worthy of their ancestors. Their loyalty is to their tribe, and any force that seeks authority over their tribe (such as a national government) is by definition their enemy. The more we try to push one on them the more they will hate and fight us. I said when we first started trying to build a national government it wouldn’t work. We would have been much better off simply buying off the tribal leaders directly and help them kill each other.

That’s always been my feeling. For all of my adult life, Afghanistan has been either killing it’s own, killing the Russians, or killing Americans. Personally, I’d like to see us let them go back to #1. All Muslims are filth. Afghans are the lowest filth of them all. That whole effing part of the world isn’t worth another young American’s life.
I think more and more people are waking up to this reality (the McCaniacs and Grahamnestyiacs aside).
