Ossoff has 7 point edge over Handel in AJC poll of 6th District race
AJC ^ | 6-10-17 | Greg Bluestein

An Atlanta Journal-Constitution poll released Friday shows Democrat Jon Ossoff has a 7-point edge over Republican Karen Handel in the nationally watched race to represent Georgia’s 6th Congressional District. The poll of likely voters has Ossoff leading Handel by 51 percent to 44 percent ahead of the June 20 runoff. About 5 percent of voters are undecided. The margin of error is 4 percentage points. Both national parties have poured astonishing resources into the race, which some see as a bellwether for next year’s midterm elections. The race is by far the most expensive contest of its kind, and Ossoff has shattered fundraising records by raising more than $23 million. The poll, conducted by Abt Associates, is one of several recent surveys that show Ossoff with an advantage — although most show a tighter margin. They suggest that Ossoff is in a commanding position in the race’s final days — but that Handel is just within striking distance

The Republican Party, both the State party organization under the chair whose term just ended, and the Fulton county organization are asleep at the wheel. They have “meetings” at a country club. But they take for granted the votes of anyone outside their little clique, or so it seems.

Sounds exactly like the California GOP circa 2002 - and look where they ended up.

The past in the 6th district no longer matters. The present is here now. How many Europeans were living in the new world in 1492? How many descendants of the Old World nations are living in the Americas now?!

AJC poll had Trump winning Georgia by 2 points in their last poll of the 2016 election. He won by 6pts I think within the MOE.

“(C)onducted June 5-8 1,000 registered voters for a sample of 745 likely voters, 46 percent identified themselves as Republican or Republican-leaning and 44 percent identified themselves as Democrats or Democratic-leaning. 60 percent were reached on cellphones”

Interesting timing...right in the hype leading up to the dud Comey hearings...

I’m talking about Tom Price who won re-election in D6 on November 06, 2017 with 61% of the vote.
It changed that much in seven months? Sure incumbency has a lot of power but if the demos changed that much Price probably would have had less of a margin of victory, no?

The AJC was on board making Hillary President as well. Having said that, I live in metro Atlanta and am so sick of the tv commercials, endless, often times back to back to back. Ossoff still hasnt said who he is going to vote for........if he could vote.

Everybody agrees that currently Ossoff is far ahead in votes already cast.

Who is everyone and where are you getting this from? High voter turnout favors Handel. Oh, and voting did not start May 2.

Advance Voting

The dude is running as a conservative touting his "national security aide" credentials, a pledge to cut spending (when is the last time a dim wanted to cut any spending), a promise to work with anyone to cut government waste.

Handel is not a very strong candidate.

Pajama boy has two very good commercials running.

One hammers Handel over the issue of cutting funds for breast cancer when she was at Susan G Komen. Forget whether it's truthful or not.

The second hammers her over her spending on one of her offices during the economic slump a couple of years ago.

I have not seen any counter commercials on these two issues from her camp.

They debated last week. I though she had some good points. Issoff stayed on his talking points and didn't veer off into luny land.

The unknown card is that a judge allowed additional voter registrations to happen after they were supposed to have ended. We know who that benefits.

This will be a close one.

As in the 2016 election that gave us a historic defeat over tyranny, it all comes down to turnout.

Ossoff appears to have the edge in yard signs. For weeks I haven’t been able to watch a youtube video without seeing his ads, but there are finally starting to be a few Handel ads. The Dems are spending a ton. They want this seat. It’s going to be very close, I’m afraid, due to shifting demographics in north Fulton county.

It’s the demographic that has changed. I’m sure this district has become less white over the years.

The way I see it, if the people in that district are so whupped as to vote that little tremble-chin freak into office, then they are not worth fretting over.

Well let’s hope the Republican wins. I’m just saying, the democrats have been moving to metro Atlanta in droves for the past 27 years. What is a fact is that women are increasingly in favor of abortion rights and the Democrates are the party of fetus killing. It is a fact that the Republicans
Are not focusing on economics. The Democrates are evil. The republicans are the party of stupid.
