THE family of the man accused of carrying out a terror attack at Notre Dame cathedral have said the terror suspect is "not an extremist".
Farid Ikken, 40, was shot in the chest as he lunged at a police officer outside the world-famous cathedral on Tuesday afternoon and is currently under guard at a Paris hospital.
The Algerian journalist reportedly shouted this is for Syria as he attacked a police officer with a hammer outside the Notre Dame cathedral in Paris.
A video of the suspect pledging allegiance to Islamic State (ISIS) was later found in his flat in the northern Paris suburb of Cergy-Pontoise following a counter-terrorism raid.
But his nephew, Sofiane Ikken, told Europe 1 radio on Wednesday that Ikken was a moderate Muslim with no known links to radical Islam.
The human rights lawyer said: At first, we thought that police had gotten the attackers name wrong. Because the person that people have been talking about in the news isnt the person that, we, his family, know.
Farid is a progressive. Hes not an extremist His parents are in shock and cant believe whats going on and that the person everyone is talking about is their son. He used to say that he didnt understand what ISIS was trying to achieve and once called (ISISs leader) Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi an idiot.
Kamel Medjoub, an Algerian journalist and the Notre Dame suspects former boss, told Europe 1 that his ex-employee did not fit the profile of a terrorist.
"Farid has never adhered to ISIS jihadist mindset. He is staunchly anti-ISIS. Its impossible to fathom." [said,] Salim, Farid Ikken's older brother.
Mr Medjoub said: I find it hard to believe that Farid is a member of ISIS or that he has any link whatsoever to radical Islamic groups. Its unimaginable.
Maybe he lost it that day and attacked a police officer in a moment of madness. But I refuse to believe he would pledge allegiance to ISIS.
Farid Ikken's older brother, Salim, told LCI radio on Thursday that he was in shock and that his brother was not a terrorist.
He said: Farid has never adhered to ISIS jihadist mindset. He is staunchly anti-ISIS. Its impossible to fathom.
Uh huh, because any sane rational person would be compelled to attack a police officer with a hammer any perceived sleight.
From http://thereligionofpeace.com/ we have:
Breitbart also runs a daily article on this years Ramadan Bombathon.
"Ramadan Rage 2017 Hits Grim Milestone: 1,003 Dead, 1,036 Wounded"
http://www.breitbart.com/national-security/2017/06/07/ramadan-rage-2017-complete-list-jihadist-attacks-around-world/
"The death toll in the first 14 days of holiest month for Muslims has reached a grim milestone: more than 70 attacks in 21 predominantly Muslim countries have yielded an estimated 1,003 fatalities and 1,036 injuries."
I’d say he was a typical moozlum.
Was he an aspiring rap artist trying to turn his life around?
Oh wait wrong meme.
Thanks for the ping!
He was a good boy ... aspiring rapper ... going to community college ... just getting his life turned around ...
It’s not extreme to swing a hammer at folks? This is a normal muslim action?
To the parents: saying that he was a moderate Muslim really isn’t helping his case.
But it is the truth...
....THE family of the man.... have said the terror suspect is “not an extremist....
Is this going to be an “aspiring rapper trying to turn his life around” type of excuse?
Farid is a progressive. oh ok I didnt know this is perfectly ok
Of course he’s not an extremist. He’s a normal follower of the religion of peace. That’s what worries us.
Must be a carpenter then...
Exactly
Just shows that every “moderate” Muslim is a jihadist at heart, all ready to break out in the most brutal and lethal violence at any instant.
“Sudden Jihad Syndrome”
As a Moslem, he is NOT an extremist. He is a mainstream pious Moslem performing the required rituals of his religion.
I agree. Islam is spread by the sword, and that’s it. No moderation there.
