Having a knack for learning languages does not necessarily mean a high IQ. It’s a talent, like being musical or artistic that some people seem to have and others (like myself, sadly lack).

Two of the languages, Farsi and Dari are basically different ‘accents’ of the same language, like British and American English. Since she was Air Force and the languages in question are spoken in Afghanistan, and she doesn’t look Afghan to me, I’d assume she learned them in Monterey.
