The testimony of James Comey proved long on atmospherics and sort on ethics. While many were riveted by Comeys discussion of his discomfort in meetings with President Trump, most seemed to miss the fact that Comey was describing his own conduct in strikingly unethical terms. The greatest irony is that Trump succeeded in baiting Comey to a degree that even Trump could not have imagined. After calling Comey a showboat and poor director, Comey proceeded to commit an unethical and unprofessional act in leaking damaging memos against Trump.
Comey described a series of ethical challenges during his term as FBI director. Yet, he almost uniformly avoided taking a firm stand in support of the professional standards of the FBI. During the Obama administration, U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch gave Comey a direct order to mislead the public by calling the ongoing investigation a mere matter. Rather than standing firm on the integrity of his department and refusing to adopt such a meaningless and misleading term, Comey yielded to Lynch while now claiming discomfort over carrying out the order.
ADVERTISEMENT When Trump allegedly asked for Comey to drop the investigation of Michael Flynn or pledge loyalty, Comey did not tell the president that he was engaging in wildly inappropriate conduct. He instead wrote a memo to file and told close aides. He now says that he wishes he had the courage or foresight to have taken a stand with the president.

What? Mary Katharine Ham decided to give a little latitude to that unbearable beast of a man, Trump?
Truth be told, I thought a lot of MKH when she broke on to the news scene with the Duke fake rape case. I thought she would remain objective, but alas, she signed on with a bunch of other female “journalists” and she couldn’t help herself. She outed herself as a NeverTrumper.
I’m surprised that she has any redeeming words for Trump at all.
She was still less than warm regarding Trump. Maybe she dislikes Comey almost as much.
Probably. I bet it was hard for her to choose one over the other.
Good read, but not sure I would call it a great article.I don’t trust these people one bit. Odd to me that “The Hill” is coming out with this. I think they are just trying to cover tracks for Mueller’s BS. We know Mueller and Comey are bff. Don’t buy this BS.
I refuse to watch M.C. Hamm. Glad to know she is seeing the light, though.
And his own testimony proves intent.
Considering this article is from The Hill and Jonathan Turley (not a Trump fan) this was quite a damaging indictment against Comey.
And yes, Donald Trump has a way of baiting people like no one else I've ever seen and the Liberals, crooks, bureaucrats, etc.. all keep falling for it.
No, silly. Everything is still Bush's fault. Just ask Nancy Pelosi.
AND Come(d)y gave President Trump's Justice Dept lying Lorretta Lynch too.
The slime over Lynch and Come(d)y goes back decades. Deal with the Clintons, and the only way out is death. Come(d)y is trying a different path.
