There has been a non-stop, relentless, over-the-top media campaign to try to convince British voters that their vote on Brexit was a mistake. Sadly, it appears to have worked.

If you only assess "Britishness" via their survival of WWII under Churchill, you'll come away thinking they're something like modern Hobbits - stalwart, brave, tenacious, etc.
But how do you square that with their promptly dumping Churchill after victory in Europe?? And, if that weren't shocking enough, they dumped Winston for Atlee??
It was all down hill after that. Poor Maggie fought long and hard to reverse the decline of the national character, but no cigar. "Conservatives" thereafter were pretty much like Republicans today, and then worse.
No, individual Brits here and there to the contrary, the national character of the country is obviously enfatuated with Big Brother, no matter which party (Conservatives or Labour) is playing the role.
